 arch in 1970 one year after the Stonewall Riots. During these riots\, th
 e LGBTQ+ community fought back and protested against police who raided t
 he Stonewall Inn\, a gay bar in New York City (a mere fifteen-minute wal
 k from the Whitney). Pride now takes place all over the world and create
 s space for the LGBTQ+ community to feel safe\, welcomed\, affirmed\, an
