Marc Ribot Quartet: Hurry Red Telephone Album Release Show

highly lauded 2014 release, Live at the Village Vanguard. For this performance, Ribot is joined by an all-star lineup: Chad Taylor on drums, Sebastian Steinberg on bass, and Briggan Krauss on alto sax & guitar. Together, they continue the improvisational conversation that began with Ribot and Taylor’s collaboration on the record, while drawing on Ribot’s deep roots in no wave and free jazz. The band takes its name from Richard Siken’s poem “Several Tremendous,” which depicts the poet’s efforts to rebuild his ability to write and speak after a stroke robbed him of both—an apt metaphor for Ribot’s pursuit of a language reconstructed from the ground up, and for the quartet’s collective exchange.
