Her poems have appeared in numerous journals including Prairie Schooner, Crosscurrents, Confrontation, Kansas Quarterly, California Quarterly, Apalachee Quarterly, and Manhattan Poetry Review. With his stunning lyric gift, Howard Levy’s Dreams Maldreams moves us trance-like through landscapes both welcoming and ice-laden. These are poems of a lived life, a plea not to “drift away silently” but to be with the intensity of the world where “clouds join to forge a sky of withered light.” His Exile poems, meditations on Antarctica, bring us to a harsh landscape where a baby seal is alone and dying, where the exotic is “the mountains/…capes furred in a white/that is the whitest shade of white”. Levy is never simply an observer, instead he ignites us, plants us firmly in wonder. –Anne Marie Macari, author of Amerigun
