inspirations directly onto our physical crafts, turning each object into a personal totem of reflection. We invite students to honor diverse traditions and practices as we allow our bodies to slow down. We will design the following:Piñata: A traditional Mexican and Latin American container filled with candy that is hung up and broken during times of celebration. We will be mirroring this tradition to create a moment of shared communal joy and physical release. Paper Lantern: A traditional East and Southeast Asian decoration used across many cultures. We will be making Chinese paper lanterns, which represent prosperity, luck, and health. Diya: A traditional Indian lamp lit to celebrate hope over despair and light over darkness. Using paper, we will construct our own decorative diyas to embody this hope and positive energy. Snacks will be provided. This event is free and open to all NYU students, inclusive of all backgrounds and identities.
