installation. An inquiry into what it means to locate oneself, the work weaves together personal and inherited narratives, historical writing, and colonial records against imagery of precarious environments: Antarctic ice fields, Amazonian rainforests, and Costa Rican cloud forests. Time Slip places two live bodies in relation to one another and to themselves as they perform in and with Biggs’s video installations. Drawing on the concept of time dilation— divergence of elapsed time due to the effects of the speed of light—Time Slip imagines delays, velocity, and slippage between individuals, across histories, generations, gravitational states, and definitions of life and death. Time Slip suggests that the search for orientation is also a search for relation to inherited histories and environments whose increasing instability is shared but unevenly experienced.
