wish to attend. Title: Voice & Tone: The Power of How You Sound (In-Person Training) Audience: All university employees—leaders, managers, supervisors, and team members at every level who want to improve communication and build stronger relationships. Description: Great leaders—and great teammates—aren’t remembered only for what they say, but how they say it. Voice and tone play a powerful role in building trust, improving collaboration, and shaping how others experience us in the workplace. The way we sound can inspire confidence and connection or unintentionally create tension and misunderstanding. This highly interactive session explores how voice and tone impact communication outcomes, working relationships, and workplace culture. Through real examples, reflection, and hands-on activities, participants will practice techniques to communicate with clarity, confidence, and empathy—even in challenging situations. Everyone will leave with practical tools they can apply immediately to strengthen professional conversations, increase influence, and support a respectful work environment. What Participants Will Learn By the end of this session, participants will be able to: • Understand the difference between voice and tone and why both matter in everyday interactions • Recognize how tone influences trust, clarity, and workplace relationships • Identify their personal communication patterns and how they may be perceived by others • Adjust tone intentionally to match the message, audience, and situation • Use practical strategies to communicate with clarity, empathy, and professionalism • Apply tone-awareness to real-world scenarios, including emails, meetings, and challenging conversations • Strengthen leadership presence by communicating in ways that build credibility and connection • Reduce misunderstandings and foster more positive, respectful dialogue across teams Who Should Attend: All university employees—leaders, managers, supervisors, and team members at every level who want to improve communication and build stronger relationships. Length: 2 hours Location: University Center, Suite D Dept/Area Event Manager: Kelly Valentin
